Your Power Strategy, Simplified: Meet the New Power Control UI

We are excited to announce the rollout of our new Power Control UI. We conducted hours worth of interviews with customers to identify how we could make our power controls more straightforward. We incorporated much of that feedback into a new UI that a subset of our users have been using in a BETA release over the last several months and are now excited to roll out to the rest of our users in the coming weeks.

Here are some of the improvements we’ve made.

All power events in one place

Site operators can quickly see all of the in-progress and upcoming power-related events in one place so that they can make sure they are complying with their demand response agreements and plan effectively. We’ve also made it easier to see related power events to troubleshoot if the site isn’t behaving as expected.

Running saved power controls from mobile devices

Walking the mine and need to shut down a section from your mobile device? Now you can easily run a saved power control from our responsive UI.

Curtailing miners by efficiency (or whatever order makes sense for your mine)

When you only need to curtail part of your mine, keep your highest efficiency miners running as long as possible to maximize your margins. Create an execution sequence to match your power strategy that Foreman will use when curtailing only a portion of your load. You can even exclude certain miners from curtailing if there are a subset of machines that always need to stay online.

Ensure you have enough load to meet your commitments

Programs like ECRS in ERCOT, allow mines to bid in a portion of their load into a day-ahead market. With our new Commitments feature, Foreman ensures your site maintains sufficient load to meet any outstanding commitments if called. Commitments can also be used to configure ramp times on a per-program basis to ensure the site comes down as quickly (or as slowly) as the specific program requires.

Change power modes based on power price (BETA)

More stock and third-party firmware support different power modes. Some are just “low” and “high”. Others, such as LuxOS, support the ability to underclock and overclock in granular increments. We have two new features in BETA. With Manual Strike Prices, users can now specify a strike price AND power mode. For example, supported miners could be put into “low” power mode at one price and “sleep” at a different price. Our Auto Strike V2 feature continuously adjusts the power draw of the machine using LuxOS. In both cases, our goal is to extend the window for how long miners can be mining while maximizing profitability. Both features are currently in BETA and are premium features.
